Week 11: The Resurrection

Focus: Reflecting on the “rebirth” or transformation that happens when one overcomes life’s greatest challenges.

  1. CBT Focus: Recognizing how overcoming significant ordeals brings deep psychological growth and “rebirth.”
  2. Assessment Tool: Strengths Finder – assessing the new strengths gained through overcoming challenges.
  3. Expressive Arts Activity:
    • Children: Draw or create a project symbolizing their personal “rebirth” after a major challenge (e.g., a butterfly representing transformation).
    • Adults: Create a vision board or journal entry symbolizing the “new self” that has emerged from personal adversity.

  1. Experiential Family Therapy Activity: Families reflect on how they have grown together and how they’ve supported each other through the journey.
  2. Executive Functioning Homework Assignment:
    • Children: Reflect on a major challenge they’ve faced and write about how they have grown or changed as a result.
    • Adults: Reflect on a recent ordeal and identify how they’ve been “reborn” or transformed in a way that will impact future growth.

Homework Assignment for Week 11:

  • Parent-Child Attachment Activity: Work together to create a “Rebirth” project. Each family member draws or writes about how they have changed as a result of the challenges they’ve faced.
  • Executive Functioning Activity:
    • Children: Identify a specific area where they feel they have been transformed (e.g., increased confidence or emotional strength) and focus on how they will continue using that skill.
    • Adults: Reflect on how their recent challenges have reshaped their goals, values, and approach to life. Write about how this “rebirth” will guide future decisions.
