Week 9: The Reward and New Skills
Focus: Identifying the rewards and skills gained from overcoming challenges.
- CBT Focus: Highlighting how overcoming negative thought patterns leads to tangible rewards, whether emotional, mental, or physical.
- Assessment Tool: Goal Achievement Inventory – assessing the progress toward achieving goals and new skills.
- Expressive Arts Activity:
- Children: Create a “Reward Box” where they list or draw all the skills and rewards they’ve gained from overcoming challenges.
- Adults: Create a journal entry reflecting on the personal and professional rewards gained through perseverance and resilience.
- Experiential Family Therapy Activity: Families share the "rewards" (skills, insights, emotional growth) they have gained individually and collectively from facing challenges together.
- Executive Functioning Homework Assignment:
- Children: Identify a specific skill they’ve developed (e.g., persistence, patience), and practice using it in a new context.
- Adults: Reflect on a personal or professional reward they’ve achieved and plan how they will apply this newfound strength or insight to future challenges.
